A LITTLE ABOUT US

We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide a loving home environment to homeless or near homeless young adults 18-24 years old.

PURPOSE STATEMENT

To house and assist young adults with independent living skills, provide resources for them, and to serve as an advocate. To provide mentoring to help meet their physical, behavioral, and spiritual needs. To help them succeed independently, with confidence and wise decision making, for a brighter future. Entrance into the Mantle House is temporary and transitional. They will be treated with dignity and respect. The primary goal is that these young adults will experience God’s love and compassion.

Kelli’s Story
Hi everyone! My name is Kelli. I’m married and have two beautiful daughters. After my husband left active duty as a U.S. Marine, we moved to Westmoreland County to be closer to family and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, where our daughter with 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome would have excellent care. I started working with non-profit organizations in 2004 while living & attending university in Washington, D.C. However, my life changed in 2006 while studying in Rome – a day I’ll never forget. Sitting in Piazzo del Popolo reflecting on the beauty of the famous “twin” churches, once again amazed at the time and care given to places of worship, I went to leave and glanced up at the Basilica Parrocchiale Santa Maria del Popolo and lost my breath. From where I stood and the position of the sun, all I could see were elevating crosses atop the domes and bell tower. I felt as if God had just shown me my own personal stairway to heaven and had done so in “The People’s Square.” I knew He was calling me home to him and giving me my purpose – to help people. I’ve tried to heed that call ever since. I currently serve as a staff member at Mantle House Mission, aiding and mentoring residents. I work with residents as a financial advisor, teaching money management, budgeting, & how to plan for their future. I also work with them as a legal advisor, help further their education, and find physical activities for them to do. I also use my God-given gift of writing, and work with non-profits to write grants to aid in their funding so that their missions and visions of helping others can continue being a reality. I have found faith, strength, and happiness since I started following this path. I may have had some bumps and curves, but I always know He is leading me in the right direction – home
